Dr. Ligaya D. Valmonte currently serves as a faculty member of the Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education. She is also a Professor of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), La Union, Philippines. She pursues teaching and research interests in the areas of teacher education, biology, project management, monitoring and evaluation, e-community centers, testing and evaluation as well as accreditation and certification. Consistent with her professional role, she has developed papers with accompanying video-on-demand (VODs) published in the CPSC website at http://www.cpsctech.org or in other related websites (http://www.adbi.org).
Dr. Valmonte has authored and published well over fifty articles in professional journals, program books and related educational sources, and has presented at institutional, national, regional and international conferences and workshops. Highlights of her publications are: two major books, Basic Concepts in Biology and Work Text in Biology; and articles on "Accreditation and Certification in Asia and the Pacific", "Evaluation and Monitoring Performance of e-Communities" and "The Instructional Materials and Multimedia Production Center". Further, she serves as an Editorial Consultant and a Contributing Writer to the CPSC Quarterly.
Aside from her teaching functions, Dr. Valmonte was drawn into wider scope of responsibility. While in DMMMSU, she assumed several administrative designations such as Unit Head of the Student Scholarships, Campus Secretary, In-Charge of Multimedia Resource Center and Coordinator of Instruction. She was involved in the assessment of academic programs for accreditation; faculty development; curriculum development; faculty loading and assignments; and instructional materials development. In 2004 while in CPSC, she was assigned as the Chairman of the defunct Business and Consultancy Division. Presently, she is actively working on the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission, one of CPSC’s special projects.
Dr. Valmonte received her Doctor of Philosophy in Education from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, La Union, Philippines (1994), a Master of Science in Agricultural Education from the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University, La Union, Philippines (1988) and Bachelor of Science in Biology in Saint Louis University, Baguio City, Philippines (1979). She is married to Dr. Onofre S. Valmonte, Professor of Agriculture in DMMMSU, Philippines, and they are blessed with three sons and two daughters.
