Dr. Shyamal Majumdar is a governing board-engaged faculty consultant of Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC) and an expert in Information Technology and Communication. He is also holding the chair of Training and Development Division of CPSC. Prior to his appointment at CPSC, he also served as Head, Computer Science and Engineering Department, Technical Teachers' Training Institute, Calcutta, India. He was also engaged as Deputy Manager, Computer Department in one of the leading banks in India. Dr. Majumdar has obtained his doctorate degree in the field of educational computing.

 

      His expertise includes Educational Computing, Open & Flexible Learning, Online Education, Web Based Instruction & Multimedia Computing. Dr. Majumdar is deeply involved in designing and organizing program in Information Technology & Communication (ICT)  for different countries of Asia and Pacific region. He has a number of publications in the national and international conferences. He was invited as keynote speaker in the International Vocational Education and Training Associations' conference (IVETA 97) on Network Learning, Plenary Speaker on E-Learning (SEAMEO-INNOTECH, 2000), Plenary and Panel Session Speaker in first SEAMEO Education Congress (2001), Invited speaker and Panel member in the UNESCO learning workshop-2001 on Distance Education.

 

      Dr Majumdar was technical committee member of the Platinum Jubilee and Nineteenth Engineering Congress of Institute of Engineers (India) 1995 and Program Chair, International Symposium on "Multimedia Web Based Teaching and Learning System" 2000 Pukyong National University, Korea. Dr Majumdar has been invited to act as a staff consultant in the area of Information Technology for the Asian Bank Development mission and deeply involved in implementing IT skill transfer project in Sri Lanka. Dr Majumdar is married and has a son.
