Accreditation |
A voluntary procedure by which APACC gives formal recognition that a TEVT institution is competent to carry out specific tasks for assessing and enhancing academic and educational quality which has met APACC accreditation standards. It is a continuous improvement of institution that meets a set of standards established by APACC. |

Accreditation Body
|
An authoritative body that assesses the qualifications and capabilities of certification bodies to operate independently and reliably, verifies their competence, and controls their operation. The body must be neutral without vested interests with certification bodies and it's competence and neutrality is safeguarded through international accreditation co-operation. |

Criteria |
Set of requirements (Standards) that is used by APACC, to be fulfilled by a candidate institution in order to be accredited. |

Accreditation
Process |
The procedure followed by the APACC to its applicant institution to obtain the status of accreditation. |

Annual Report |
The form of document collection that requires an annual submission of data from each accredited institution and allows APACC to monitor the institution. |

Appeal |
A request by institution to APACC for reconsideration to review a non-accreditation decision. |

Applicant Institution |
An institution that has submitted an application and intends to fulfill the criteria for accreditation. |

Authority |
The Commission that has legal powers and rights. Authority that is responsible for preparing and adopting regulations. |

Benchmark. |
A description or example of candidate or institutional performance that serves as a standard of comparison for evaluation or judging quality. |

Candidate for Accreditation |
Applicant institution seeking accreditation that has established itself as a precandidate and has met eligibility requirements for accreditation. |

Asia-Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission. |

Complaint |
An objections or accusation regarding APACC accredited institution and APACC staff. |
|
Compliance |
This is the process of checking that the conditions of APACC standards are met or not. A checklist assesses whether an institution is complying with the conditions of a standard. |
Eligibility Requirements |
The conditions in which an institution must meet in order to be a candidate for APACC accreditation. |

Governance
|
The system and structure for defining policy, providing leadership, and managing and coordinating the procedures and resources that ensure the quality of all institution's personnel prepared at the institution. |

Institutional Accreditation |
Accreditation of the institution as a whole. |

Mission Statement: |
A relatively short (generally a few paragraphs) written document that states in clear and succinct terms the fundamental values and beliefs of the institution. |

Reaccreditation |
The process of reviewing the accreditation of an institution or renewal of accreditation status. |

Self-Survey |
A form of data collection by which APACC allows the candidate institution to document its accomplishments, assess areas where improvements may be necessary and outline a plan for making those improvements. |

Site-Visit |
Evaluation by APACC's Site-Visit team on-location review of an applicant institution to verify, clarify, and amplify documentation of a written application and thus to establish the applicant's capacity to meet the accreditation standards. |

Standard
|
A set of requirements and documents that must be met by institutions to be accredited by APACC. These criteria involve expectations about quality, attainment, effectiveness, financial viability, outcomes, and sustainability. |
