The Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) continues to promote quality assurance in TVET across the Asia Pacific region as APACC Acting President Prof. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel attended the 4th National Training Providers Forum at the NRDCL Conference Hall, Thimphu, Bhutan from April 21 to 22, 2016.

The forum, bannered by the theme “Surging Ahead towards Relevance and Quality”, was organized by the Ministry of Labor and Human Resources, Bhutan. It had participants coming from 72 public and private training providers all over the country. Honorable Lyonpo Ngeema Sangay Tshempo, Bhutan’s Minister of Labor and Human Resources graced the Opening Ceremony and delivered the Keynote Address after the Launching of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Quality Assurance Management Information System (TVET-QAMIS).

Prof. Dr. GK expressed his appreciation and shared CPSC’s programs when he gave his Special Address. During the first session, he delivered a presentation on APACC Certification of Training Institutes. He emphasized on the APACC ac creditation system, its criteria and the benefits of accredited institutions. In another session, he talked about the topic, Strengthening TVET systems through the integration of ICT.

Topics discussed in the forum include: International Best Practices in TVET System, Draft TVET Blue Print (way forward for TVET), National Work Force Plan/National HRD Plan, The Role of Skills Training for Youth Employment in Bhutan, and the TVET-QAMIS.

At the end of the forum, Dasho Secretary of MoLHR awarded the Training Providers Excellence Award to the following: Training Institute-Chumey, Technical Training Institute-Khuruthang & Kunjung Institute of Technology and Innovation. They bested 35 other institutes which sought the award.
