The Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission is extending its reach across the Asia Pacific region, from the Philippines, to Sri Lanka and now Bangladesh. Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja, APACC Coordinator led the on-site accreditation visit to Rangpur Technical School and College and Bogra Polytechnic Institute last 8 and 9 August 2008, respectively. Prof. Md. Abul Bashar, Director General, Directorate of Technical Education and APACC National Coordinator of Accreditation (NCA) for Bangladesh and Mr. Md. Mostafizur Rahman, Director (Vocational), Directorate of Technical Education and a certified APACC Accreditor comprised the team of accreditors.

During the said visits, the accreditors validated the self study guide submitted by the institutions to assess if said institutes meet the standards to qualify as APACC accredited TVET institutions. Interview with employers from the industries, parents, students and Faculty and Staff of the institutes were also conducted to strengthen the data gathered by the accreditors as well as to seek their suggestions and views. The result of the accreditation visits will be determined after the accreditation procedure and will be announced accordingly.

 

Rangpur Technical School and College was established in 1964 as Rangpur Polytechnic Institute and later named Rangpur Vocational Training Institute in 1982. In 2003, the institute was renamed and upgraded as Rangpur Technical School and College.

Bogra Polytechnic Institute was established in 1960 and offers diploma courses in seven areas of technology. Currently, they employ 104 full time employees, 44 of which are faculty and 60 are staff members. Their average number of enrolment annually is 384.
